EXERCISE BETTER
"There is a staggering amount of evidence to show that exercise is good for you. Among other benefits, people who exercise are healthier, think more clearly, sleep better, and have delayed onset of dementia."
25% of Americans don't get any exercise at all.
That would be me.
"Just by exercising 20 minutes a day for 3 days a week for 6 weeks, normally tired people boosted their energy".
-Try to get yourself out of the door several times a week.
-Walking triggers the body's relaxation response and helps reduce stress.
- Even a quick 10 minute walk provides an immediate energy boost and improves your mood.
Get a pedometer.
This one is $50, but you can buy cheaper ones.
- Aim for at least 10,000 steps a day- a number that reportedly keeps most people from gaining weight.
-There are a gazillion ideas on Pinterest on how to make sure you walk at least 10,000 steps a day.
Walking helps you to think more clearly and boosts energy.
Fact: Light deprivation is one reason that people feel tired, and even 5 minutes of daylight stimulates production of serotonin and dopamine, brain chemicals that improve mood.
Things that motivate:
- find a walking partner
- buy new (pretty) comfy walking shoes :O)
-turn on some music
-don't try to schedule the perfect time- just go!
So, now that I have all the facts, what am I going to do?
So far, since the New Year, I have walked with Peter 3x a week for 30 minutes. I want to add a few alone walks too, but for now that is my goal.....
(at least) 3 times a week x 30 minutes.
It's a start!!
