~hello summer~

I finally found a cool(er), free morning to do a little work on the patio. It was a MESS! I've been trying to get to it all spring and now that it's officially summer and the fourth of July is right around the corner, I knew I had to get out there and make it look pretty! I want more plants and a rug, and some lights, but for now, at least it's weed free and prettier than it has been all year.

and a few more pics.....

Peter wasn't thrilled that I put up the umbrella, as he thinks it might scare away the martins he has finally gotten to nest!! Well, they don't care a bit for it (thank goodness!!!).

a few black berries on my neighbor's fence....(I hope this isn't the extent of my berry picking this summer).

What drew me outside were these beautiful monarch butterflies
swarming my neighbor's many butterfly bushes! Isn't June early to be seeing these?

Little Visits

Logan and Lindsey needed a sitter for Kamry while they went to an O’s game last weekend. Of course I can baby sit!!! Peter is away at work, so Mom went with me for the night and we had a blast! The O's pulled out of their slump and WON 15-7!!!!

We hung out a bit, before they headed to Baltimore.
It was such a beautiful day, we went for a little stroll around the neighborhood. Phew…it’s HOT!

We had lunch, then I put Kamry down for an almost 2-hour nap.
After some play time and a little Peppa watching, we ordered pizza for dinner.

Kamry had some blueberries and avocado while we waited for the pizza delivery.
She is such a good eater and while she loves blueberries and avocado, she really LOVES pizza!!

We had the best, best day!!! Kamry is a pure joy and just loves having people around. She is so much fun!! After dinner, she played in her room for a bit before bath time. She had the most fun in her ball tent. She got a little wild and was "overacting" and dying laughing!!! I wish I could have caught her on video- putting a blankie over her head, diving into the balls, and "swimming" in them. It was hilarious!! She did this over and over, and pretty much wore Nana and Gran out (and she was the one doing all the work!!) LOL By the time I took this video, she had calmed down!

She's a wild child in the bathtub!
It took me and Mom both to wash her and her hair!!! :O) :O)
She's a calm child for the most part, but I found out the bedtime routine is when she turns on!!

Dad had gone to Chincoteague for a few days of fishing with Julie and Derek for his birthday/Father's Day.
No luck fishing, but had the best time!!

He stopped by on Sunday morning for a little visit, then we all three came back on the tour boat.
We had a wonderful time!!!! I can't wait to go back!!!! :O) :O) :O)

Happy Birthday Nathan!!

Happiest Birthday Wishes Nathan!! You have been nothing but pure joy to us and have brought much laughter and love to our lives! I hope your little one inherits your "it's all good" positive attitude, along with your bug catching, beanie baby collecting, basketball bouncing, (teach yourself to ride a bike) determination, adventurous, only quiet when you're asleep, strong willed, loving, happy, thoughtful, hardworking, caring traits!! We love you so, so much and wish you a big Happy 22nd Birthday!!!

one of my favorite treats!! :O)

beautiful blooms.....

Lindsey and Logan gave me this countdown chalkboard when they told us they were expecting. I loved watching the weeks countdown, then got down to 11 weeks and Kamry made her appearance!!
When Wanda was expecting her first grandbaby a few months ago, I let her borrow it to count down Charlotte's arrival. Little did I know that not long after I gave it to her, I would need it back....I couldn't believe I was going to be a Nana again so soon!!!! There will be 18 months difference in Kamry and new baby (if she goes to her due date of September 28th). I am soooooo excited!!!! I am truly blessed and really get the best of both world's -- a little girl and a little boy...oh my!!!
Wanda brought back the chalkboard last week, so the countdown is on.....at the time of this picture, she had 15 weeks to go!!! :O) :O) :O)

Home Chef Review: Shrimp Scampi

Well, I'm trying yet another subscription meal box! This time it's HOME CHEF. I used a $30 off your first shipment code and got 6 meals for $29.99. It came last Thursday, but I've been busy with work and hostessing and then went away for the weekend, so didn't get to try the first one until today.

MEAL #1 - SHRIMP SCAMPI & CHEDDAR BISCUITS

The first meal didn't disappoint!!! It was soooooo easy to make, it literally took minutes, and it was sooooo delicious!! This actually tasted very similar to my alfredo recipe, and was creamy like alfredo. I consider scampi more buttery than creamy, but hey, who's complaining, scampi...alfredo....whatever you want to call it...it was just pure YUMMINESS!! The cheddar biscuits reminded me of  the ones at Red Lobster but not as garlicky. Each serving was more than enough to fill me up, I had a big bowl full today, and have left overs packed away for tomorrow's dinner. You are off to a great start Home Chef!!!

INGREDENTS:
5 oz. buttermilk biscuit mix
2 oz. shredded cheddar cheese
2 cloves garlic
1/4 oz. parsley
1 lemon
8 oz. shrimp
6 oz. linguine
2 oz. white cooking wine
4 oz. whipping cream
3 T. butter
red pepper flakes

Can't wait to try Meal #2!!

Kayla's Bridal Shower 6/03/17

Kayla and Nathan's wedding shower was scheduled for April 29th, but due to an island tragedy earlier that week, we postponed the shower until a later date. After their wedding on May 20th, we decided to get the calendar out again and find a date to reschedule the shower. June 3rd seemed to be our best option, and in spite of all the comings and goings of everyone, two weeks after the wedding, we hosted the shower! The shower turned out so beautiful, the food was delicious, the attendance was good (considering all that were away with previously made plans), and the generosity of everyone still blows me away!

I have taken the least amount of pictures lately, but here are a few I got as the shower got started....

..........make a wish!!!!

I can't thank my family and friends enough for their help with the food, decorating, and cleaning up! The wedding was planned for November, with all things FALL in mind as far as decorating, but once the wedding date was moved up to May, we switched gears to all things SPRING and had to speed things up quite a bit. The months of planning we thought we had turned into weeks!!  I'm so happy everything turned out so beautiful and so many people came out for the wedding and shower. The outpouring of love that has been shown to Kayla and Nathan has simply overwhelmed me. Thanks again to everyone! XOXO
