Our adorable little grandson Rowen Elliott made his appearance on

Friday, September 29, 2017
@12:47 p.m.

He weighed 7 lb. 7 oz and is 20-1/2 inches long.

He has lots of dark (fluffy) hair :O) and at first glance, looks like Daddy and cousin Madi.

We are absolutely crazy about this sweet little guy! He is precious!!!

Nana loves you sooooooo much!!!

Martha & Marley Spoon: Glazed Sesame Drumsticks

The first meal from my latest meal subscription box [that I overlooked pausing!] was

Photo for the dish: Grilled Harissa-Spiced Steak with Onion, Pita & Tomato Salad

[I completely forgot to get a picture, so I'm using the site's pic.]

Kayla and I ate the two steaks that came with the meal kit and I added an extra steak for Peter . There was enough salad for the 3 of us, and I fixed us all a baked potato on the side. I was skeptical when making the salad but it was delicious!!! The steaks were awesome as well! We all agreed...this meal was a win!!

Today, I made meal #2 from the box......

Glazed Sesame Drumsticks w/ Miso-Butter Carrots & Kale

IT WAS YUMMY!!!!
The hoisin sauce and fresh ginger made the perfect sauce for the sweet & sticky chicken, and the miso-butter added so much flavor to the carrots and kale. This dish was perfect served over jasmine rice!

INGREDIENTS

3/4 cup jasmine rice
4 drumsticks
2 T butter
2 tsp. miso
1 oz. rice vinegar
1 oz. fresh ginger
8 oz. carrots
3 oz. baby kale
2 oz. hoisin sauce
2 T. toasted sesame seeds

salt, pepper, olive oil, sugar

Instructions on how to make it [HERE]

Again, I can't say enough about these boxed meals. If you love good food and don't mind doing a little cooking, I recommend giving them a try! I have tried several, and this one is one of my favorites!

Stitch Fix #11 - September 2017

Stitch Fix #11 - September 2017

{one}
Toms Classic Striped Contrast Flats - $54.00

Who doesn't love a pair of Toms? I really liked the stripes and I almost kept them, but ended up sending back. [RETURN]

{two}
Vero Mode Orla Slim Straight Leg Pant - $59.00
If these pants had fit, I would have kept! I LOVED the wrap style at the waistband and the ankle length.
[RETURN]

{three}

Absolutely Arcadia Hooded Back Detail Cardigan - $54.00

This was cute...but not $54 cute! [RETURN]

{four}
Calvin Klein Xerxes Zip Detail Knit Top - $58.00

I really loved this top...super soft-great fit, but again, not willing to pay $58.
[RETURN]

{five}
Kut from the Kloth Benter Mixed Material Top - $58.00

This was my favorite piece and went back and forth on what to keep this month. I kept putting off deciding until I finally had to get it back in the mail. I ended up returning this top too only because it had a banded style waistband that I rarely wear. [RETURN]

Thoughts: I am enjoying, Kristina, my stylist. I really loved everything in the box, and feel like the choices are more suitable for my age and style. Unfortunately, I returned everything this month, mainly because I've had so much going on that I couldn't get my mind on fashion. I am still loving Stitch Fix but decided to try every other month for awhile until life calms down. My next fix is scheduled to arrive on NOVEMBER 1st....we will see how that one goes! I may eventually switch to seasonal, but will try every other month for now. I still recommend trying SF and can't wait for my next box to arrive!! :O)

{fall mornings - sept 1-10}

{morning devotions} have become a very important part of my day. Over the years, I have struggled with setting aside time during my day for some quiet time to read and pray. I am thankful that the Lord has kept me faithful this past year and that I make sure I find time every morning (and really look forward to it) to be quiet, to have my coffee, and start my day listening to what God wants me to hear.

Joined @bibleplans on Instagram for #1adayBible reading through the Bible. I have tried and failed miserably to read through the Bible, but I started this challenge with others to hold me accountable. I'm only a few chapters in and I have already been blessed.

Tragedy hit our community over Labor Day weekend - I can only imagine the grief and pain of losing a child.
Prayers for the Cooper family and our community as we deal with this great loss.

life lately....

I'm a planner, I'm not patient, I want things my way, I want things perfect, I get frustrated, I get impatient (again)....and I often complain when things don't go as planned.....

...then the Lord quickly reminds me, through a verse or seeing someone else's circumstances that are much more difficult than mine, that I need to be humble, and trusting, and patient, because EVERYTHING is in God's hands. HE is in control of every situation, and HE will work things out in HIS time because HE loves us and cares for us so much!! I am praying daily for patience and that I will stop trying to control things and learn to lean completely on God. #practicingpatience

My Greatest Blessings Call Me NaNa

US

Peter and I are pretty much taking care of business these days...living our life two weeks at a time with his tugboat schedule...fitting in a fun day here and there, but mainly focusing on our kids and grandkids, spending as much time as possible with each of them and trying to help them out whenever we are needed. I'm winding up season 15 at the b & b (I still can't believe Nathan was 7 when I started there) in 12 DAYS!!, and while I'm anxious to go back to my SAHM life, I can honestly say I've had the best summer I've had in a really long time! I've had a better attitude about work, I've had an awesome helper with housekeeping (thanks Tina!!), I've even starting hostessing again this year. I actually enjoyed summer this year and really hated to see it end!

{side note} I miss blogging!! I can't believe this is my very first September post!! Blogging is therapy for me! It is something I love! I love writing my thoughts down and saving my daily pics here. Hopefully, things will soon return to a somewhat "normal" and I will have a little more free time to spend on my blog. In the meantime, I'll update when I can, and share a little about our
{life lately}.
