Our 2015 Disney Vacation (February 9)

Day #5 - Monday February 09 2015

I was up at 7:30 (why can't I sleep in Disney???). I got ready and called Mom. The weather was very cold back home in Virginia, but it was sunny and warm again here in Florida. Today there was a chance of rain, but we must have been optimistic (or in denial), because we did not take our ponchos with us today. We were at the bus stop by 9:15 and were headed to Animal Kingdom today. Park hours were 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and we had a dinner ADR at Rainforest Cafe' @ 5:45.

Our FP was ready once we got to the park, so we headed straight over to Africa. We once again enjoyed the Kilimanjaro Safari, even though I didn't get as many pictures this time.

As I was editing my pictures, I couldn't believe I had missed the group from the Wild Africa Trek in the picture below!!! I guess I was so busy trying to catch pictures of all the animals as we moved along the safari!

We were ready for a little snack and both got Warm Cinnamon Pecans and a Diet Coke.

$9.98 or 2 SC (OOP for the sodas)

We had a little time before our FP for Festival of the Lion King, so we went to the front of the park to find DeVine. We had the classic tree pic took on the way. She wasn't set to be out for awhile, so we went back over to wait for our show time at noon..

I didn't get to ride Expedition Everest again this year! BUMMER!

We loved the new theater and area for FotLK, and we were very happy to see it this time since we missed it last trip. Picture overload!! I love the new Harambe Theatre!

I had to snap a picture of the Diet Coke can decoration as we walked through the queue. :O)

We love this show! Awesome!!

We returned to the front of the park in search of DeVine, this time we found her! Peter just loves DeVine!

We were getting hungry and decided to look for somewhere for lunch. Normally, we would eat at Flame Tree BBQ, but since it was closed for refurb, we had to find another option. We had a FP coming up for Dinosaur, so we chose Restaurantosauras and headed over to Dinoland. By the time we got over there, it started to sprinkle. Uh-Oh! No ponchos!!! :O(
I really loved my lunch here. I got the 1/3 lb Angus Bacon Cheeseburger with lots of toppings from the toppings bar, fries, and a diet coke. Peter chose the Macaroni & Cheese Hot Dog - Creamy Macaroni & Cheese and tasty Bacon Bits top our delicious Hot Dog, served in a fresh Bun, fries, and tea. For dessert, we both got the Cheesecake in a Glass.
It was really yummy! We will definately return here again. :O)

By now, it was raining pretty hard. We ran over to Dinosaur and got in the FP line. We hadn't moved very far, when they announced the ride was down for a bit, but to hold tight, it should be up soon. Well, several minutes later, they announced it would not be running anytime soon. So, back in the rain we go! As we walked along, we wondered what to do.....buy yet another poncho....go back to the resort...just be miserably wet and carry on........we both decided to head to the bus stop and take a break and get dry. Once back to the resort, I decided to do some laundry since the rain had set in pretty good.

At 5:00, we went back out (with ponchos on!) for our ADR at Rainforest Cafe'.
The wait was very short and soon we were seated, right next to this guy!

I ordered the Taste of the Islands - Caribbean Coconut Shrimp, blackened tilapia topped with a mango salsa and Dynamite Scallops and Shrimp and Red skinned garlic mashed potatoes.

Peter got the Primal Steak - center cut NY strip aged 21 days! Charbroiled to perfection, topped with steak butter and served with red skinned potatoes and green beans.

Both of us were very pleased. For dessert, we ordered the Tribal Cheesecake - New York style cheesecake served with creamy whipped topping and garnished with raspberry and chocolate sauces.

$90.04 or 2 TS + cash tip

Despite the rain, we had a great day. We had so much more that we wanted to see and do at Animal Kingdom, but this would end up being our only day in that park. We look forward to doing more of our favorite things there again next year! :O)
