The Simple Woman's Day Book: December

December 2013

Outside my window: It's raining again! I had planned on getting the lights put up outside, but I guess I'll have to wait and see if this rain will go away. The weather has been so mild, but the temps dropped a little last night.

I am thinking: actually, I'm thinking about too much! My brain is on overload! Gift buying, wrapping, finishing the decorating outside, Nathan & Logan not being home for Christmas, decisions for the re-do, oh, and how about just normal daily routine stuff? Shew....I need a nap!

I am thankful for: so much! I am so blessed, sometimes I don't even realize how much. I'm thankful for my family, my home, my church, my friends, my job. I have so, so much to be thankful for.

In the kitchen: a Mississippi Roast is cooking in the crockpot. mmmmmm!!

I am wearing: jeans & my Charlie Brown Christmas t-shirt

I am creating: a vision in my mind of how I want the house to look once we do our upcoming project. Hopefully, this will be it for awhile, I'm ready to just wake up and have the house like I want it and not have to rearrange furniture or paint anything! :O) Once we get this re-do done, it's going to stay this way for a long time- I hope!

I am looking forward to: Christmas {our delayed version anyway}. I'm a little sad that both boys won't get home until Dec 26th, but I'm still going to try to enjoy all the holiday festivities. I'm really looking forward to the Christmas Prayer Breakfast and all the other church activities, including the Candlelight Service on Christmas Eve. It will definitely be weird though without at least one of the boys here. After 25 years, this is a first for Peter & I, no kids to wake up to on Christmas morning. Sniff, sniff! :O(

Around the house: Things are finally coming together and it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

A favorite quote of the day:

Change fonts but this is my fave xmas quote. Maybe Christmas doesn't come from a store - grinch. $18.00, via Etsy.

One of my favorite things:

I love my Willow Tree Nativity. Logan has given me pieces to the set the past two years and this year I bought the Creche at the school bazaar. A local guy makes/sells them unfinished at a great price! I gave it a light grey white-washed stain- love it!! I need to add the metal star {as soon as I find it}. I already have an angel , so next I'd like to add the Angel Stand to my set, along with the Shepherd and Stable Animals.

Love your nativity scene! Did it snow in Virginia today. We're your neighbors in Maryland and we have about 4 inches. Enjoying it on this Sunday.
