first summer getaway....part 1

We took a kind-of-spur-of-the-moment getaway last weekend and had a wonderful, relaxing, fun time! We almost didn't find a hotel for Saturday night, but ended up getting a room at Sleep Inn in Salisbury. We have stayed there a few times in the past and always liked it, but since it's been recently updated, it is now one of our favorite hotels in Salisbury!

We had zero plans, my favorite kind of trip!  After a quick stop at Home Depot, we decided to head to the boardwalk in Ocean City. The weather wasn't looking very promising, but the rain held off until mid-afternoon, so at least we got to enjoy a few hours.

First stop, lunch!

Of course, we had to get Thrashers fries.....

We had seen a review on the Travel Channel about Alaska Stand having the best burgers in O.C. TripAdvisor agreed, so next stop, Alaska Stand for a burger and a shake. All reviews were correct....awesome!! My new favorite thing: trying new places!

 

 

After lunch, we wandered into The Kite Loft and Peter asked if I wanted a kite. Umm...yes! He also wanted to fly it on the beach. You can say we've come a long way over the years....

 

 

 

 

 

 

You always see the strangest things in Ocean City....

(as we would say..."she's out-of-heart") LOL

 

The skies were looking very stormy, so we decided to head to Salisbury to check in. We ran into a storm on the way to the hotel, but it cleared up in time to head back out for dinner.
