Home Chef Review: Crispy Onion Chicken

Crispy Onion Chicken
w/ Creamy Mushroom Sauce & Green Beans

-INGREDIENTS-

6 oz. Cremini mushrooms
8 oz. green beans
1 oz. crispy onions
2- boneless, skinless chicken breast
1 T flour
4 oz. light cream

Cooking instructions {HERE}

It still amazes me how the meals in subscription boxes turn out so tasty with so few ingredients. This recipe only included mushrooms, green beans, crispy fried onions, flour, cream, and 2 chicken breasts, but was so yummy!

It pays me to get these meals....6 meals for a little over $30! I don't like paying full price, so I wait for a discount. I am also going to search for a few more that I haven't tried yet, as you always get some kind of new customer discount.

All 3 of the meals this shipment were easy to make, and full of flavor. I have two meals for the next two days already cooked [another steak dinner and another one from today]. That gives me a few days off from cooking yet I'll have a yummy dinner! Another plus of doing these meals [for one].

Home Chef Review: Butter Cracker-Crusted Chicken

Butter Cracker-Crusted Chicken w/ Blue Cheese Sweet Potatoes

This was the last of the three meals and the least impressive. Just your usual breaded chicken and roasted sweet potatoes. It was tasty though, just not over the top. Since this shipment was sent automatically, I didn’t get to choose the meals, but overall, I was very satisfied with the ease of preparing and the flavor of each meal. I normally only get the boxed meals while Peter is at work, but it was nice having 3 meals planned and ingredients on hand to cook them while he was home.

INGREDIENTS:
8 butter crackers
16 oz. sweet potatoes
¼ oz. fresh parsley
2 garlic cloves
2 boneless skinless chicken breasts
2 fl. Oz. liquid egg
6 oz. butter
3 oz. baby spinach
2 tsp. chicken demi-glaze
1 oz. blue cheese

Home Chef Review: Brasserie-Style Sirloin Steak w/Truffle Fries

Brasserie-Style Sirloin Steak w/truffle frites, green beans, & herb butter

OOPS!! They forgot the green beans! I added fresh corn on the cob to our meal instead. This was my first time cooking with truffle oil and the fries were a-m-a-z-i-n-g! The steak was simply prepared but delicious and melt in your mouth tender! The herb butter was a nice change from our usual A-1 sauce :O)

INGREDIENTS:
1 oz. butter
2 russet potatoes
¼ oz. fresh parsley
2 garlic cloves
6 oz. green beans
2 sirloin steaks
½ fl. Oz. truffle oil

Home Chef Review: Chicken & Roasted Beet Salad

Meal #3 - Chricken & Roasted Beet Salad w/ goat cheese and pistachios

I was excited to try this one, since I've discovered my new love for roasted beets. I first tried them at The Shark restaurant [their Beet & Berry Salad is one of the best things I've ever eaten!!!], then I tried them again in another of my subscription box meals- Plated.

This meal was ah-mazing!!!! My favorite of the three, yet all three were delicious! I will keep this subscription active for awhile and give another shipment a try in the near future!

3/4 oz. roasted pistachios
8 oz. golden beet
8 oz. red beet
2 boneless skinless chicken breasts

Home Chef Review: Shrimp Scampi

Well, I'm trying yet another subscription meal box! This time it's HOME CHEF. I used a $30 off your first shipment code and got 6 meals for $29.99. It came last Thursday, but I've been busy with work and hostessing and then went away for the weekend, so didn't get to try the first one until today.

MEAL #1 - SHRIMP SCAMPI & CHEDDAR BISCUITS

The first meal didn't disappoint!!! It was soooooo easy to make, it literally took minutes, and it was sooooo delicious!! This actually tasted very similar to my alfredo recipe, and was creamy like alfredo. I consider scampi more buttery than creamy, but hey, who's complaining, scampi...alfredo....whatever you want to call it...it was just pure YUMMINESS!! The cheddar biscuits reminded me of  the ones at Red Lobster but not as garlicky. Each serving was more than enough to fill me up, I had a big bowl full today, and have left overs packed away for tomorrow's dinner. You are off to a great start Home Chef!!!

INGREDENTS:
5 oz. buttermilk biscuit mix
2 oz. shredded cheddar cheese
2 cloves garlic
1/4 oz. parsley
1 lemon
8 oz. shrimp
6 oz. linguine
2 oz. white cooking wine
4 oz. whipping cream
3 T. butter
red pepper flakes

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS: HERE

Can't wait to try Meal #2!!
