christmas 2014 {part 1}

*Christmas 2014*
{part one}

We started our Christmas celebrating early since Logan will go back to work on December 24th! On Friday, we headed to Maryland to spend the weekend with Logan & Lindsey. We had an awesome, laid-back 3 days doing nothing but cooking, eating, watching Christmas movies, hunting, baking, talking, laughing, opening presents, more eating, and more Christmas movies....
Lindsey had to work on Friday, Logan and Peter went hunting with Logan's friend John that afternoon. Logan had killed a deer that morning, so they were hoping to get lucky again.

I stayed at the house and cooked dinner and watched a few Hallmark movies until everyone got home. The men didn't get anything that night, but Peter was hooked and was anxious to go back in the morning.
We brought some soft crabs to fry for dinner....

After dinner, we opened some gifts.

They gave Peter a float coat (which he LOVED!)

we gave them one of their gifts....

and I opened ALL of mine!

Nathan sent their gift too (since he won't see them over the holiday).He gave them a restaurant gift card (and bought Bub a little something extra).
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation Clark Bobble, Not Mint - Funko - National Lampoon - Bobble Heads at Entertainment Earth

They both love that movie.

We ended up watching National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation that night.

Early Saturday morning, the men went hunting and came back around 11:00. They still hadn't killed anything, but were anxious to go back in the afternoon. They took a quick nap, ran a few errands, hung a few pictures, and finished hanging the lights outside, before going back out to the field.

Lindsey did some baking while I cooked dinner.

We watched a few Hallmark movies and just hung out.

The men got home around 6:00. Peter had shot a deer, but they couldn't find it that night. They were going back early in the morning to look again.

 I cooked their favorite.....a goose dinner...YUM!

and Lemon Lush for dessert!

Logan and Lindsey invited John and his girlfriend, Courtney, to dinner. We had a good time laughing and telling stories. They are both very sweet!

After they left, Logan pulled out the Home Alone dvds...another holiday favorite!
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York

On Sunday morning, the men went out to look for Peter's deer.....
and found it!!!!!
Unfortunately, the fox had too!
Peter absolutely loved deer hunting and they are already talking about having him come again next year.

We made a quick trip to Walmart, then cooked a big breakfast.
I bought another 2014 ornament to remind us of Peter's first deer hunting trip...

The rest of the day was spent sprawled on the sofas watching football until we had to say our goodbyes and head back home.
We will see them briefly next weekend, long enough to drop off a few more gifts from Santa
(and meet the new puppy!!!!)
What a great start to our holiday! I now officially have Christmas in my bones!
