The Simple Woman's Day Book: March

March 2014

Outside my window: oh no!!! snow!!!!!!!!!

I am thinking: that this time next month,  I'll be back to work....it has come much too fast!

I am thankful for:  a few hours with the boys last Friday while Logan was here for a funeral. Nathan really misses his bub and loves getting to spend a little time with him.....and so do I. :0)

In the kitchen: we had grilled pork chops, potato salad, corn, and applesauce for dinner
*{grilling in the snow isn't quite the same!}

I am wearing: not sure how to dress these days! I wore jeans, bright pink sweater, white tee to church tonight. Good thing I hadn't packed away my winter clothes yet....brrrrr!

I am creating: Nothing real creative, still working on adding a few decorative things around the house. I plan to get my Easter stuff out over the next few days. I miss my mantel, and would love to find a new spot for it somewhere.

I am looking forward to: the wedding!!!! 53 days away!!!!

Around the house: I am spring cleaning the kitchen this week. Also doing some organizing. Hoping to get the house in order before work/the wedding!

A favorite quote of the day:

One of my favorite things:

We finally got a smart phone! :0)

Our Disney Vacation 2014 {day 6-part 2}

We finally got to Hollywood Studios around 3:00. Peter wanted to watch a couple of American Idol shows, so I went over to the Animation Academy for the drawing class. There are several things in this park that I love to do that Peter doesn't, and taking the drawing class is definitely one of them!

We drew Snow White this time.....

......not my best work!!
 I'm posting my Pluto picture from a few years ago since I did much better on that one!!

Next, I rode Rock n' Roller Coaster.
I love that this ride has a single rider option. In a matter of minutes, I was boarding my limo.

"recording studio" queue area w/Aerosmith :O)

The "limo" takes off at 60 mph!!!! :O) :O)
Best.Ride.Ever!

After riding a second time, I met up with Peter for the next AI show.

We picked the winner!

It was getting close to our dinner reservation, so we left the park and took the boat over to Beach Club. This is one of our favorite places in Disney.....

Peter's 3rd or 4th plate of mussels and clams!

The waitress brought us this anniversary treat. <3

Cost:$80.92 {or 2 TS credits} + cash tip

Love the view of Boardwalk from the beach at night :O)

We were just in time for the fireworks! We walked over to the International Gateway and found a spot there to watch- this will become another new tradition for us!

Another awesome day!!! :O)

Our Disney Vacation 2014 {day 6- part 1}

Tuesday February 11, 2014

Another gorgeous day! We headed to Downtown Disney for a little shopping and  lunch at Planet Hollywood. This had been a trip of many firsts for us and we almost got to try something I've always wanted to do! Characters in Flight.......

Notice I say almost! Every trip I beg ask Peter to ride it with me and he always says no. Peter is afraid of heights, and this thing goes wayyyyyy up (like 400 feet) in the air for an amazing view. As we were walking over to Planet Hollywood, we passed the balloon, and I asked, like I do every year, if we could try it, and this time he said ok! I was so excited! When we went up to the counter to buy tickets, we  I was disappointed to see that it wasn't running due to wind. :0( Awe, we came so close! But I have that on our to-do list for next trip. There are still so many things I want to see and do at Disney!!

Lunch was pretty good at Planet Hollywood. I got the turkey club and Peter got the cheese steak. We paid OOP ( minus a $10 coupon from our resort packet)= approx. $30.00 plus the pictures we bought. We browsed through a few more shops before leaving. I love the Lego displays in front of the Lego store!

We had planned to do a little resort hopping during this trip, and since Port Orleans Resort was nearby and it is where we'd like to stay sometime in the future, we got on the bus to Port Orleans.
We met the nicest family and chatted the whole way there. One of the ladies shared that she was a Disney travel agent/trip planner and had her own online business. That is always so fascinating to me and is my dream job! She gave me lots of helpful information, and we ended up talking again at the bus stop when we were leaving the resort. Who knows? Maybe someday! :0)
We stopped at Port Orleans French Quarter.......
It is a beautiful resort!!

I want to stay there even more now after seeing it!

part 2 coming up.......

5Q Friday 3/21/14

Glad to see that 5Q Friday is back! Here are this week's questions:

1. If I had 5 minutes alone with Mother Nature I would tell her? Um....hello! It's spring already! Normally, winter weather doesn't bother me since I'm pretty much home all the time and don't have to go out in the bad weather too much, but this winter has been ridiculous here in VA. I can't believe they are calling for snow again on Tuesday?! Enough already!
Looks like Crocus peeking through the snow.....Spring is here!

2. If you could eat only one thing for a whole week what would it be? Only one thing? Like can I have milk for my cereal? If so, cereal!
Speaking of cereal, I pinned some great ideas for cereal storage. I keep mine in containers similar to those in the first picture, but I really love the last idea, which takes up less space.

3. What is your favorite season and why?  Fall is my favorite time of year! I love the weather, the food, the colors, the football, Halloween & Thanksgiving, all things pumpkin, the decorations, leaves falling, chilly nights, and pumpkin patches...I just love everything about Fall!

4. Do you have a meal that you are AMAZING at making? If so, share the recipe! There are several things I make that my family really loves!

Here are links to two of them:
Asparagus Bundles
Mississippi Roast

5. What has changed in your life since the last 5QF? (8/2/13 was the last one! Wow...over 6 months!) Let's see.....Nathan started his job as deckhand for a tugboat company on August 7th. He commutes to work 2 weeks out of the month, making us (semi) empty nesters! We've been on several vacations: O's game in Baltimore in September, Bears game in Washington in October, spent a few days in Ocean City in November, spent Thanksgiving w/ Logan & Lindsey, went to Florida for a Disney Vacation in February. We spent our first Christmas in 25 years without kids :0(, had a small remodel project done (Jan 13- Feb 21), and threw a wedding shower for Lindsey & Logan on March 1st. Coming up: back to work in about a month and Logan & Lindsey's big day on May 17th!!!
